Today I’m sharing an update on Park Bench Pitch — an experiment we’re running during New York Climate Week, September 23-27, 2024.
Buckle up fam; Park Bench Pitch is very much a thing.
Since I started writing this draft, 4 new people have signed up. Half our spots are booked. We’re deleting events where we’re still on the waitlist so we can add more PBP slots.
Lydia and I are having so much fun reading about the people we’re going to meet, we figured we’d share a report from PBP HQ.
Where We’ll Be
A few folks who want to pitch asked us where we’d be when, so we made a map. It’s on the main PBP page now.
Here’s how we built it:
Map out roughly where we’d be for other sessions during the week.
Find cool parks near those spots.
Stop twiddling thumbs waiting to get off waitlists.
Ask people to hang out in delightful September NYC weather with us.
Here’s the list:
Bryant Park
Union Square Park
Central Park
Bryant Park
The High Line
Commodore Barry Park
Little Island
How awesome is that? So fun. So free. #norain
Topics
And the range of topics people want to cover — awesome.
I’m so fired up to see that other people who aren’t named Gates or Doerr want to talk family office investing in the energy transition.
Drink orders
We figured we’d ask folks pitching what they liked to drink in case we had time to bring them something nice. Shout out to the hot chocolate drinkers in the house park.
If I’m being honest, this all started from a place of uncertainty and fear. In less than a week, Lydia and I have started to craft manifest a version of Climate Week done our way — with a little less FOMO and a little more curiosity. This feels better than FOMO did.
