2 announcements then on to the crash course.

  • Welcome to our 6 new subscribers this week.

  • Thank you to all who made the community meetup Saturday - so fun! Full report later this week - including progress on the e-bike experiment.

Self-deprecating opening anecdote

My son’s into chess. The other day we were a few minutes into a game when his mom walked in and asked “Who’s winning?”

Thanks for reading My Next Electric! Subscribe for weekly updates and pro-tips.

I had two moves to mate, and in a rare moment of self-aware power-dadding, I kept my mouth shut. As I was biting down on my lip, he chimed in with “I’m. I mean. Well. Dad’s. Um. We’ll see.”

Two moves later it was indeed over; I never saw it coming. Turns out he’s been watching fewer minecraft speed-running videos and more….

Now we‘ve got a good opening, too.

That’s one way to think about our new 30-minute course - like a good chess opening.

After a year and 10+ live cohorts, we’ve found a solid set of first moves that boost your chances of winning the complicated game of chess electrifying your vehicles and your home.

Electrifying is a multi-year, multi-machine game, and while this 30-min course won’t get you fully electrified, it builds a strong foundation you can’t really do without.

Let’s flip the My Next Electric classroom.

Getting content out ahead of time allows more time for working individual problems. My teacher friends call this flipping the classroom. 3 upsides and 1 risk I see:

+ More accessible: It’s cheaper, it’s available 24/7, it’s repeatable.

+ More custom coaching: We’ve doubled office hours and upped community meetups.

+ Tighter content: A 5-min video limit forces chatty-Matt to reign it in. Win.

? Fewer live cohorts - I’m a big believer in cohort-connections; I spent 10 years building a community based on it. If we invest in office hours and consistent community events, I think we can compensate, maybe build broader connections. We’ll still do live cohorts, but less frequently.

Here’s a sneak peek:

Thank you.

If you’re an alum, look for a special email this week with free access to the self-guided course. Thank you for helping me get to this moment.

If you’re a subscriber, I appreciate you, too. Here’s a 25% off promotion code for April: teamnewsletter Use it or share it! Or both.

Please help me get this thing tested. If it works, it’ll help people electrify better, faster, funner. If it doesn’t, we’ll find something that will. Onward! Matt
